Companies authorized to transfer discounts to workers' wages

Angolan companies will be able to transfer Social Security discounts to workers' wages in April, May and June, as part of the measures this Thursday approved by the executive to alleviate the effects of the covid-19 pandemic on families.

:

The decision, to which Lusa had access, was taken this Thursday by the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, in response to the effects of the pandemic of the new coronavirus and the sharp reduction in the price of a barrel of oil on the international market on companies and the families.

In addition to this measure, which means a 3 percent gain in workers' wages, the executive will provide 315 million kwanzas to support the most needy families with basic food items.

It will also begin in May 2020, the first phase of the Social Monetary Transfer Program, for economically vulnerable households.

It is also recommended for companies in the energy and water sector not to cut water and electricity supply during the month of April.

Angola has so far registered 19 cases of infection with the new coronavirus and declared a state of emergency on 27 March until 11:59 pm on 11 April.
