Angola gained its independence on November 11, 1975. A country on the west coast of Africa, bordering on the north and northeast with the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the east with Zambia, on the south with Namibia and on the west is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
The official language is Portuguese and there are also national dialects like Umbundu, Kimbundu, Kikongo and Tchokwe.

What is the currency used?

The official currency is kwanza, but the US dollar is also accepted.
There are 50 cent and 1, 5 and 10 kwanza coins and 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 kwanza notes.
Currency must be exchanged at banks and exchange offices. It is not allowed to leave the country with kwanzas.
