The information is contained in a press release from the Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Combat of Covid-19, to which Lusa had access, according to which the value of donations from natural persons, business organizations, embassies of countries accredited in Angola, churches, organizations non-governmental and other, reaches more than 510 million kwanzas.
"Several companies, including banks, decided to offer equipment, bio-security material and other means, which they paid directly to foreign suppliers and which the interministerial commission expects to receive soon," the note said.
According to the interministerial commission, the aid described above is in the order of 6.2 million dollars, and in this last package, there is still to include an order of assistance means made by a bank of national capitals, in the amount of 772,285 euros.
The commission responsible for preventing and combating the new coronavirus points out that, in addition to the amounts of money, it also received “generous amounts of food, sprayers, plastic water tanks, cleaning and disinfection materials, such as detergents and soap and vehicles”.
All the support, the note adds, stems from “a broad movement of solidarity that has been unleashed in the country and everything indicates that it will become more popular in the coming days”.
“It is worth noting that the cash donations that reach the Interministerial Commission comprise a spectrum that ranges from individuals, who offer twenty-five million kwanzas, sometimes even more, to citizens who deposit two hundred kwanzas, in a demonstration that they want to contribute with little they have, regardless of their own daily difficulties ”, underlines the statement.
