There are another 9290 positions in the "largest competition in the history of the sector" of health

The Ministry of Health decided to open another 9290 positions for the admission of new health professionals. The new vacancies were opened in the 2019 public contest, which so far has allowed the Government to hire 7000 professionals. Once the accounts are done, a total of 16,290 new professionals will be integrated into the national health system.

The revelation was made this Thursday and, according to the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, the ministry gave the green light for the opening of 203 vacancies for doctors, 4829 for nurses, 3894 vacancies for diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, 18 for hospital support technicians and 346 for the general regime.

In statements to the TPA and cited by Angop, the holder of the Health portfolio considered these additional vacancies as "another gain provided to the health sector by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço," who has shown himself increasingly "concerned about the living conditions of Angolans, with more emphasis on the issue of employment for young people".

The new vacancies were opened taking into account the needs of the sector, he said, adding that the admission of these more than 9000 thousand professionals leaves last year's public tender closed.

"These admissions are related to candidates who had positive grades and were not admitted in the first phase due to the lack of vacancies", explained Silvia Lutucuta.

The minister stressed that this "will be the biggest contest in the history of the sector". "We intend to continue improving the conditions of service and bet more on the quality of our services," she added.

Silvia Lutucuta also revealed that the ministerial department will reinforce the training of staff so that it will be possible to help the population at any time.

In the first phase of the competition 7000 professionals were admitted: 1242 doctors, 2757 nursing technicians, 1691 diagnosis technicians and therapists, 779 hospital support technicians and 531 technicians in the general regime.

The holder of the Health portfolio also took the opportunity to ask citizens to denounce all those involved in falsifying tests to covi-19: "Unfortunately, we have been following the falsification of tests, especially for travelers. Therefore, we appeal to the population to denounce the authorities".
