Country announces 212 more covid-19 infections and record 439 recovered

The country registered 212 more infections by the new coronavirus, one death and a record of 439 patients considered recovered in the last 24 hours, announced this Thursday the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Of the new cases, 168 were notified in Luanda, 23 in Cuando Cubango, nine in Namibe, six in Moxico, four in Cabinda, one in Benguela and one in Malanje, aged between 5 months and 83 years.

The disease was diagnosed in 147 males and 65 females.

An Angolan of 31 years died in Cabinda due to the disease.

Another 439 people were considered recovered from the disease, said the Secretary of State, congratulating health professionals.

In total, 14,134 cases of covid-19 have been reported, of which 333 have died, 7062 have been recovered, and 6739 are active, including seven critical and 11 severe cases.

A total of 204,965 samples have been processed to date, 3404 of which in the last 24 hours, with a daily positivity rate of 6.2 percent.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 1.3 million deaths, resulting from more than 56.2 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP, including 3701 in Portugal.

In Africa, there are 48,409 confirmed deaths in more than two million infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics about the pandemic in the continent.

Angola registers 333 deaths and 14,134 cases, followed by Mozambique (120 deaths and 14,723 cases), Cape Verde (104 deaths and 10,082 cases), Equatorial Guinea (85 deaths and 5121 cases), Guinea-Bissau (43 deaths and 2421 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (16 deaths and 967 cases).

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
