According to the Ministry of Health (Minsa), for the seven thousand vacancies available throughout the country, 77,092 people are applying.

In this second competition - the first took place in December 2018, and five thousand people were admitted - 2757 vacancies are available for the nursing speciality, 1242 for doctors, 1691 for diagnostic technicians and therapists, 779 for hospital support and 531 for the general regime.

The Minsa note also reveals that the tests will run until Friday 28 February. According to Minsa, on the day of the test, candidates have to be at the test site two hours before the start of the test and, if they arrive after the test start time, they will not be allowed to enter the room. Candidates must also have their identity card and registration form in their possession.

The country currently has 6400 doctors to assist around 28 million residents. This is far less than the number recommended by the World Health Organisation, which advises countries to have at least one doctor per thousand inhabitants.
