Speaking during the visit that President João Lourenço made this Tuesday to the aforementioned hospital, Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta announced that "for the first time, the public sector will perform 3-Tesla MRI scans, a modern technology that allows for a more powerful magnetic field, with more accurate diagnosis in the areas of orthopedics, neurology, and oncology."
According to a statement from CIPRA, that VerAngola had access to, these services will be available at the future Pedro Maria Tonha 'Pedalé' Hospital Complex.
Speaking on the sidelines of the visit, the Health Minister also said that the complex will have "a new histocompatibility laboratory, to ensure the compatibility accuracy required for organ transplants."
"According to Sílvia Lutucuta, the infrastructure will serve the Stroke Green Line, to provide a rapid response and increase the patient's chances of recovery," the statement reads.
The minister also mentioned that special attention will be given to maternal and child health, "with care for pregnant women with complex medical conditions."
The project, visited this Tuesday by the Head of State, currently has a 95 percent completion rate.
"This is the third time that the Head of State has visited the site, a fact that demonstrates his concern with the speed of the project to make available to Angolans a differentiated, reference hospital equipped with modern technology for the diagnosis and treatment of highly complex diseases," reads the statement, which adds that, during the visit, João Lourenço "received detailed explanations from the contractor about the progress of the work and toured extensive areas of the infrastructure, to gain a better understanding of the entire construction process" of the hospital.
