Covid-19: number of deaths in the country rises to 80 in 1735 cases

The number of deaths by covid-19 in the country, which already totals 1735 cases, increased this Tuesday to 80, with two more deaths, announced the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

In the last 24 hours, Angola has reported 56 more cases of infection with the new coronavirus, including two from Cabinda, local transmission and the rest from Luanda.

Among these, 43 are male and 13 female, aged between 19 and 95 years.

Another six people have recovered and two people have died, one Angolan 63 and one Angolan 59.

The country now has 1735 cases, 56 more than the previous day, of which 80 died, 575 recovered and 1080 were active, including five critics and 22 severe

In the last 24 hours 146 samples were processed using the RT-PCR molecular biology test, which has an accumulation of 48,298 samples.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 736,000 deaths and infected more than 20.1 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.

In Africa, there are 23,583 confirmed deaths in more than a million people infected in 55 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics on the continent.
