The transaction was approved this Thursday by Exim's board of directors, according to a statement from the American bank, which VerAngola had access to.
"The Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has approved a transaction to export Boeing aircraft and spare propulsion equipment to Angola," the statement reads.
"The final commitment of nearly 297 million dollars to TAAG Angola Airlines will support the export of Boeing 787-10 passenger aircraft and spare engines from General Electric Aerospace," the statement adds.
This transaction will not only strengthen employment in the US but also boost Angola's economy, said James Cruse, acting president and chairman of the bank's board.
"With today's approval, we are supporting the nation's economic security while strengthening Angola's economy through the export of these aircraft and engines," he said, adding: "With nearly 1400 jobs supported in the United States through this transaction, Exim continues to fulfill its mandate of supporting jobs through exports."
