According to the ministry, "games play a very significant role in Angolan culture, not only as a form of entertainment, but also as instruments of education, socialization and preservation of traditions of four ethnolinguistic groups of the peoples of southern Angola, specifically the Ovimbundu (from Benguela), Nhaneca Humbe (from Huíla), Cupes or Vátua (from Namibe) and the Ovambo (from Cunene)."

"The classification of these games and other intangible cultural heritage is due to the need to prevent their disappearance, to promote measures aimed at valuing and preserving them for future generations, and to support the revitalization and conservation of cultural traditions," the note explains.

Among the classifications is also the Sports Club and Maritime Recreation Center of the Island, in addition to the Headquarters Building of the National Radio of Angola (RNA).

"As it constitutes one of the notable and important sites of memory and has played a relevant historical role, together with one of the currents of Angolan nationalism, the Clube Desportivo e Centro Recreativo Marítimo da Ilha, in the province of Luanda, was classified as a site of national historical interest", says the note, adding that, still in the capital, the RNA headquarters building, "located in the municipality of Maianga, was classified as national cultural heritage, in view of the need for its conservation due to its relevant cultural, historical and architectural interest".
