According to Jornal de Angola, which cites family sources, the funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday in the same location, and in Angola the death ceremonies of the former ambassador to Portugal take place at his residence, in Luanda.
Rui Mingas, who died last Thursday in Lisbon following a prolonged illness. He was Angola's ambassador to Portugal in the 1990s, having been decorated, on July 26, 1995, with the Order of Infante D. Henrique, which distinguishes those who have provided relevant services to Portugal, as well as services in the expansion of Portuguese culture or to get to know Portugal, its History and its values.
Co-author with Manuel Rui Monteiro of “Angola Avante”, the anthem of Angola, Rui Mingas, born in Luanda, was also an athlete in the 1950s and 1960s, having competed in the high jump and the 110 meter hurdles, achieving a record of Portugal, in 1960.
Rui Mingas' funeral is expected to take place in Angola and the Angolan Ministry of Culture and Tourism is responsible for the nationalist's funeral, with a meeting with the family planned at the institution's headquarters in Luanda.
