The information was provided by Adérito Areias, president of the private group Adérito Areias. According to Angop, the aforementioned factory is part of the Dombe Grande Agro-Industrial Complex – also composed of a cold store and a can factory –, whose management is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, but will be transferred to the private group Adérito Areias.
Quoted by Rádio Benguela, Adérito Areias said that the tomato and can processing factories are expected to start operating in March next year.
The official also made it known that the factories are currently being re-equipped by Spanish technicians, as they were subject to vandalism and the equipment was removed, writes Angop.
The president of the aforementioned group assured that they were "making a very big effort at their own expense, to recover that factory".
On the occasion, the person responsible also highlighted the factory's capacity to process 150 tons of tomatoes daily as a stimulus to increase production in that commune.
Although he admitted that the manufacturing unit has to start operating, he acknowledged that local tomato production is still not sufficient given the installed capacity. Thus, quoted by Angop, he made it known that they are considering taking advantage, in addition to tomatoes, of everything that is produced in the commune, aiming at the transformation and production of compost.
According to the person responsible, this initiative will help to put a stop to crop waste in the commune, as well as increase producers' income.
