João Lourenço justified that the Hospital Militar de Luanda is an old unit that has suffered a lot of repairs and that it has forced to spend a lot of money on these repairs, which are not solving the problems. "We need to build one from scratch and it will be built", he guaranteed, also assuming the need to build a university hospital to serve the Health and Higher Education sectors.

"Until next year, we plan to build more large units of at least 100 to 200 beds," announced the President, who also referred to the construction of a general hospital in Sumbe, Cuanza Sul province, and another in Ndalatando, Cuanza province North.

The inexistence of a hospital with conditions in these cities has negatively contributed to the increase in cases of deaths among citizens, especially those involved in traffic accidents, due to lack of adequate assistance, he warned.

The municipalities of Viana and Cacuaco, currently the largest population centers in Luanda, will also have municipal hospitals with a capacity of 200 beds, as well as the city of Caxito, in Bengo province, and in Uíge.

To serve the cities of Benguela, Lobito and Catumbela, a hospital will be built in the latter city and possibly in Baía Farta, all in the province of Benguela, and a general hospital in the city of Dundo, in the province of Lunda Norte.

João Lourenço also assured that the works of the General Hospital of Mbanza Congo, in the province of Zaire, will be completed, halted for various reasons. "It's a gigantic unit that started a few years ago and for various reasons, it's a project that has come to a standstill. Therefore, we are going to complete the construction of this hospital", he guaranteed.

In short, the Executive intends to complete, in the next two years, what is essential in terms of general hospitals, including the Hospital de Onjiva, in the province of Cunene.

After that, the President of the Republic said that resources will be allocated to meet the primary health care network, which is vast. "These are cheaper units, individually speaking. But there are hundreds. We are talking about municipalities, communes, localities, although we have already built some units at the level of municipalities by now".

The objective of these actions, according to João Lourenço, is to offer better services to the population with regard to health, education, and the supply of energy and drinking water.
