The minister's prediction is that the project will not end in the time initially planned. Pointing to the completion of the project by the end of 2026, one year after the deadline originally established at the beginning of construction, Filipe Zau justified this expansion with the issue of parking.
"It's all ready to start being equipped. I don't think we should have it before the end of 2026, but it's a start," he said.
"That work cannot be done in 12 months (...). At the moment they are doing it, which was our biggest problem and that is what will take more time, which was the issue of parking, there is no parking there and we have to finding parking down there and therefore arranging two floors of parking. We can't start doing it up here until the issue of parking down there is resolved", he pointed out, quoted by Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).
Another of the difficulties highlighted by the holder of the Culture portfolio was the adequacy of the structure, as it is not a "root structure".
"The other issue is that it is also not easy to adapt an existing structure, it is not a new structure and we have to adapt it and, above all, in the best way, because it has the status of national heritage", he said.
"We have to respect the entire layout, we have to respect the old room as it was as much as possible and, on the other hand, find alternative solutions that can guarantee good sound quality, but also that can guarantee that people are comfortable enough to watch this spectacle", he added, quoted by TPA.
In addition to the future Artist's House and Palace of Music and Theatre, the minister also noted the works of the Cinemateca Nacional and Cine Teatro Nacional.
Regarding the Cine Teatro Nacional, the minister considered that it will be a difficult job considering the degradation of the infrastructure: "It is a degradation mainly in terms of the ceiling. We have to work, but on the other hand it is also maintaining the structure, this is a building 1933".
The delegation that visited the projects, in addition to the minister, also included authorities linked to performance associations.
"I brought people linked to the different performance associations to make suggestions, so that together we can agree ideas in relation to the work that is being done (...)", said Filipe Zau, quoted by TPA.
