The plane, which arrived in the country this Monday, was named 'Zaire' in a ceremony that included the launch of two water jets by the fire services of the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport.

With a capacity of 74 seats, 10 of which are business class, this plane will reinforce domestic national lines and also some regional routes in Africa, to countries located near the Angolan borders, writes Angop.

In this Monday's ceremony, Hugo Amaral, Flight Operations and Maintenance Administrator, revealed that the third plane was scheduled to land on Angolan land in September, but the date had to be changed. However, he did not advance a specific day for the arrival of the aircraft.

"Because of covid-19, which affects all sectors, and aviation is no exception, the manufacturer and TAAG are carrying out their replanning in order to honour the commitments of both parties, and a new period for the next deliveries is born," he explained, quoted by Angop.

Hugo Amaral stressed that once the health fence is lifted, TAAG will resume operations, which will already include the new aircraft.

For the purchase of these six aircraft, the government had to disburse a total of 140 million dollars, which will be paid in seven years, with the possibility of extending that period for another five years.
