Government invests in rice production in Luinga with infrastructure and dam restoration

The Government authorized expenditure of more than 6.4 billion kwanzas to rehabilitate and recover essential infrastructure for rice production in the village of Luinga, in Ambaca, in Cuanza Norte.

Chris Quintana:

According to the presidential order of July 4th, which authorizes the expenditure and opens the procurement process, the Executive Branch will also invest in irrigation canals and dam restoration in the province.

In a statement, the Government states that its goal is to strengthen food security by implementing projects that accelerate grain production. It cites the need for job creation, increased income for small, medium, and large-scale producers, and a focus on growing agricultural and forestry production.

"The measure aims to harness the potential of existing infrastructure, whose restoration and operationalization are necessary and urgent," the Executive Branch states.

The project will be included in the 2025 State Budget/PIP, replacing the Waku Kungo Irrigated Perimeter Rehabilitation Project (Mutumbo), with powers delegated to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry to oversee the process.
