According to a government statement to which VerAngola had access, this project is included in the Public Investment Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and "is one of the structural actions for the socio-economic and sustainable promotion of the sector".
The authorities also state that the implementation of the project took into account the potential of natural resources of the two perimeters, as well as their competitiveness and capacity to generate employment.
The recovery of the Chicuma and Katamba irrigated perimeters aims to guarantee food security and the country's internal supply, while also guaranteeing jobs.
The execution of the works is already included in a Presidential Order, signed on 17 April, which authorises a simplified contracting procedure, taking into account the external financing of the project.
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry will be responsible for all acts carried out within the scope of this procedure, and the Ministry of Finance will ensure the financial resources necessary for its execution.
