Covid-19: Angola registered 58 new cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola has recorded 58 new covid-19 infections, three deaths, and 155 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health disclosed this Sunday.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, the majority of cases were reported in the province of Luanda, with 37 cases, followed by Benguela (7), Moxico (5), Cunene (3), Lunda Sul (3), Namibe (1), Uige (1) and Zaire (1), 34 males and 24 females, aged between two and 82 years.

The deaths, all male, aged between 50 and 88 years, were reported in Luanda (two) and Huambo (one), while the recovered, aged between two and 87 years, were reported in Luanda (148), Huila (4) and Namibe (3).

With the data of the last 24 hours, the country adds since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 39,230 positive cases, 913 deaths, 33,669 recovered and 4648 active, of which 13 are in critical condition, 19 severe, 51 moderate, nine mild and 4556 asymptomatic.

There are 92 people in hospitalization, 170 in institutional quarantine and 2200 under epidemiological surveillance.

Regarding the tests, 1836 samples were processed in the period under review by RT-PCR, pointing to a cumulative 662,262 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.9 percent.

At the entry and exit points in Luanda, 468 people were tested on the antigen test basis in the last 24 hours.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 3,974,841 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 183.4 million cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to the most recent balance made by the agency France Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India or South Africa.
