"Kings of Afro House": the documentary about DJs and producers of Afro House

Music Box, the angolan music platform created last year by Sodiba, released this Monday a documentary about the Afro House musical style. The film, called "Kings of Afro House", has the participation of some of the best DJ's and Afro House producers in the world.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, Sodiba explains that this project was carried out by Music Box, with the help of BMWorkz, and addresses "the particularities of the musical genre, which differentiates it from other genres, the legacy it already carries and how its main agents see its future".

"The documentary Kings of Afro House reveals how these DJ's and different styles within the genre connect, inspire and make happen the rhythms that have been thrilling the world of electronic music", indicates the note.

Affirming that this musical style has allowed to take the "sounds of Africa to the world", Sodiba underlines that "Angola has given strong cards in this sector", although this style was born in South Africa.

"The documentary, has artists of various nationalities: Angolans, South Africans, Canadians, Germans, Italians and Cape Verdeans," says the note, indicating that among the names chosen are Afropupo, Floyd Lavine, Djeff, Wilson Kentura, Paso Doble, MoBlack, Afro Killerz, Hyenah, Enoo Napa, Irmãos Alves and Satélite.

The project was conceived by André Cardiga, Head of Digital at Sodiba: "This documentary is, above all, a tribute to the Afro House genre and to everyone who has come to make it grow in Angola and the world, with a special focus on the importance that music has assumed in uniting people around the globe," he said.

This documentary is composed of 11 episodes, which will be made available online at Sagres.
