The initiative was born from the need for libraries focused on literature in the areas of arts, architecture and design, said Tchissola Mosquito, mentor of the project, adding that the project, which resulted in the inauguration of the library, occurred due to the donation of books by Ole.
"It was a donation made by António Ole, a promise from 2016 that finally came true in 2025", said the mentor, who, quoted by Angop, also announced that, alongside the library, there are also plans to implement a space dedicated to debates, conversations and book launches.
Josias Currie, librarian, reported that the infrastructure has works of literature and other more technical works about painting, cinema, sculpture, among other arts developed by Ole during his artistic career, and that, in his view, this library can be seen as a collection and tribute to António Ole, which has approximately five works with his participation and others in which some of his works appear.
According to João Pedro Lourenço, National Director of Artistic Training, the initiative will provide the community of Luanda, as well as others, with the opportunity to have a place dedicated to reading about art, architecture and design.
The person in charge, quoted by Angop, praised the artist's initiative in making his readings available, highlighting that, when each citizen has access to the books "will be drinking from their own memories".
"We will certainly find his notes, his comments and others. It is a place of memory. We must not forget that he is a recipient of the National Prize for Culture and Arts, which is the highest distinction in the field of culture," he added.
