The information was provided, this Tuesday, by Ângelo Silva, head of the Department of Tariffs and Customs Trade of the General Tax Administration (AGT), during a workshop on the new agenda, which comes into force on April 3rd.

On the occasion, the official highlighted that goods related to agricultural inputs, industrial equipment, roads and automobiles saw their rates reduced, in order to contribute to the continued growth of national production, writes Angop.

According to Ângelo Silva, the new agenda presents a range of 5953 tariff lines, with changes regarding international trade in the harmonized system version 2022, as well as in national terms.

Among the import duty reliefs provided for in the document, the official, cited by Angop, also highlighted the reduction from 60 percent to 50 percent in soft drinks, the 10 percent reduction in footwear (from 30 percent to 20 percent), as well as the eight percent decrease (10 to two percent) in mobile phones, etc.

On the other hand, he pointed out that the rates on goods such as clothing, vegetable oil and even milk were all increased, all three going from 10 percent to 40 percent.

According to the person responsible, these changes not only have the promotion of national production as one of the priorities, but also replace imports and increase exports.

The changes also seem to have pleased businesspeople. This is the case of João Quintas, import technician at the company SociFarma, who considered these changes to the customs document to be positive. "As an Authorized Economic Importer (OAS), I give a positive assessment, with emphasis on the incomplete declarations which, for us, will be a benefit, because they will allow economic agents to submit the process long before the goods arrive", he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

In turn, Etelvino José, customs technician at Sistec, applauded the changes: "I'm satisfied, there was an aggravation in some products, but there was also a reduction in aggravation to a certain extent and with considerable signs".
