The minister – who was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to Textaf, as part of a two-day working day that began, this Wednesday, in Cuanza Norte – explained that the new customs tariff aims to enable the full functioning of the national textile industry, where manufacturing units such as Textang II, África Têxtil and the factory you visited today, Textaf, are located.

However, Lima Massano did not provide further details regarding the new customs tariff. According to Angop, it also did not provide a possible date for the aforementioned agenda to come into force.

Regarding the Textaf factory, the minister left guarantees that it has the technological conditions to start operating "within a short time" and, thus, respond to the need for fabric in Angola.

Textaf – which has been managed by the Boabab group since 2021 –, according to Angop, is currently unable to operate due to complications in acquiring chemicals in the country for dyeing fabrics. Regarding this matter, the minister said that the unit's managers assured him of obtaining undetermined quantities of the aforementioned products, which are already in the country.

Therefore, he added, obtaining this material will allow the factory – which currently has 77 employees – to start up as quickly as possible, as well as providing 3000 jobs.

The full start-up of the factory, according to the minister, will allow the Government to achieve market regularization, through the simplification of the flow of products, in a first stage, through the provision of clothing to small, medium and large buyers in the country and, later on, to export, writes Angop.

Among other aspects, the minister referred that, in addition to customs aspects, approximately 30 thousand hectares were identified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests that will collaborate, from 2026, so that Angola presents a reasonable level of cotton production, in sense of encouraging the country's textile sector.

In addition to the visit to Textaf, Lima Massano's visit to the province of Cuanza Norte also includes a visit to the Samba Lucala farm.
