According to the statement, among the trainees abroad, 136 are in Cuba, followed by Portugal (117 trainees) and Brazil (111 trainees).

In the country, according to the note cited by Angop, 9110 professionals are being trained, including 4059 interns in rotational internships in 39 specialties, 3954 nurses in a dozen specialization courses, among others.

These data were released on Sunday in Portugal, at a meeting between Sílvia Lutucuta, Minister of Health, and partners. The coordinator and technical manager of the Human Resources Training Project for Universal Health Coverage in Angola, Job António, among other entities, participated in this meeting, which aimed to analyze the progress of the project to train and specialize 38,000 health professionals by 2028.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the case of the 117 scholarship holders sent to Portugal last month for intensive training lasting three months.

Due to temporary difficulties in accessing foreign currency, the scholarship holders initially received limited financial aid, which was quickly acknowledged by the head of the Health Ministry, who issued instructions to the responsible bodies to regularize the situation urgently, writes Angop.

Therefore, to deal with this situation, a team from the Project Implementation Unit has been in Portugal since the 11th of this month, and a plan has been developed with the aim of paying the overdue subsidies, which will be implemented in two stages and will give priority to the most urgent cases.

"The future of our health system depends on the quality of our staff. This investment is structural and strategic for the country's health sovereignty, which is why we reinforce the Executive's commitment to training and specializing 38,000 professionals by 2028, in line with the National Strategy for Universal Health Coverage", says the statement, quoted by Angop.
