Carnival: revelers paid tribute to Agostinho Neto

Even without being able to take to the streets, Carnival was not forgotten: carnival groups paraded at the TPA Production Center, in Camama, in a show that was broadcast to all Angolans in a 'live' format. However, the big winner of the event was Agostinho Neto, who was honored by the revelers.

In the year in which the 100th anniversary of the founder of the Nation is celebrated, the capital's organization and carnival groups wanted to use the event to express their esteem for the country's first President, who encouraged the Vitória Carnival.

To mark the date, the revelers took to the stage in exhibitions that were full of messages about economic diversification, investment in education, culture, among others, writes Angop.

With no competitions in the mix, each group of a total of 13 from the Luanda Carnival Class A, took the stage for 10 minutes and danced to rhythms such as samba and dizanda.

The União Twabixila group, from Viana, was the first to enter the scene. Following the groups União Povo da Quissama, União Giza, União Sagrada Esperança, União Kiela, União Etu Mudietu, Youth from Cacimba, União 10 de Dezembro, Amazonas do Prenda, União 54, União Recreativo Kilamba, União Njinga M' bandi and União Mundo da Ilha, who danced and preserved the essence of Carnival, in a show that lasted more than four hours.

According to Angop, the minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Filipe Zau, the Secretary of State for Culture, Maria da Piedade, and the governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho, were present at the event.

At the end of the event, as an incentive, the organization offered one million kwanzas to Class A groups. Class B gave 500,000 kwanzas and children 250,000 kwanzas.
