The governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, was responsible for cutting the ribbon at the Medium Polytechnic Institute of Accounting and Management, named 'Dr. Sergio Luther Rescova Joaquim'.
On the occasion, the governor, quoted in a note from the municipal administration of Damba that VerAngola had access to, was satisfied with the infrastructure, having asked citizens to preserve the institution, as well as to take advantage of the "opportunity that citizens will have in graduate" with technical-professional courses.
The official also left the guarantee that the Executive "will continue to work for the well-being of the populations, through the creation of programs that" aim to mitigate the main problems that Angolans face.
In addition, he also asked students and teachers, "in the sense of preserving and perpetuating those that were the deeds of ''Dr. Sérgio Luther Rescova in memory'", reads the note.
Graça António, administrator of the Nsosso commune (Damba) – where the infrastructure is located – "praised the Executive's efforts to build a school in her community, which will, however, contribute to the training of young people who finish the first cycle, avoiding their emigration".
The note also mentions that, in a message, the students thanked the Government of Uíge, also highlighting "the opportunity that this institution" will give to citizens, with a view "to have an average technical training, without leaving for other locations, which it was impossible before".
The infrastructure, built under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), has 12 classrooms, several administrative compartments and a capacity to house more than 1000 students in two scheduled shifts.
It is recalled that Sérgio Luther Rescova died about two years ago, in October 2020, aged 40, a victim of illness.
