Sonangol expects to open a reception point for imported products in Porto do Lobito this year

As part of improving fuel distribution in the country, Sonangol expects to open, this year, a reception point for imported products in Porto do Lobito, with a view to serving the center, east and south of Angola.

The point in Porto do Lobito will be the second reception point for the flagship oil company. At the moment, Sonangol has only one point, installed in Luanda, to receive imported products.

According to Angop, Joaquim Fernandes, executive director, quoted in last month's edition of Jornal Pacaça, informed that "the distribution board is experiencing a certain stability and full autonomy for the usual needs".

The official also referred that the fuel distribution process in Angola is one of the most delicate for the oil company, due to a set of conditions, some of which cannot be controlled, giving as an example the smuggling of fuel.

He also explained that within the scope of improving the management of the distribution process, a reformulation was carried out at the regional level, having established the regions of Cabinda, Zaire and Luanda.

The North (which includes Malanje, Cuanza Norte and Uíge), the Center (with Huambo, Bié and Benguela), the East (which includes Moxico, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul) and the South region (with Cunene, Huíla and Namibe) were also defined. ).

Joaquim Fernandes also mentioned that, at the moment, distribution is being carried out via cabotage, with the boats leaving Luanda for the ports of Soyo, Cabinda, Lobito, Amboim and Namibe, writes Angop.

In addition, distribution via rail is also an option, with the aim of increasing internal transport capacity.

In this sense, it is recalled that last year a new branch of the Benguela Railway was inaugurated, which will reinforce the fuel supply.
