Fuel supply in the east of the country reinforced with new CFB branch

The supply of fuel and gas in the east of the country will be reinforced with the new branch of the Benguela Railway (CFB). The new railway branch will connect the Luena station to Sonangol's Butane Gas Storage and Filling Center.

Sonangol expects, with the new branch, to make three train journeys a week, instead of just one, increasing transport to 3000 cubic meters of fuel.

An increase that will respond to the lack of fuel in the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte.

Thus, according to Angop, the national oil company is going to prevent eventual breakages of products, preserving 2250 cubic meters of fuel in the Storage Center and, in the Filling Center, 200 tons of butane gas.

Sebastião Gaspar Martins, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, considered that this branch will allow the transport of fuel directly from the Porto do Lobito terminal to the storage centre, without the need for transshipments.

In turn, Dinis Sardinha, manager for the Logistics and Distribution area at Sonangol, asked the authorities to fight against smuggling and explained that the lack of gas in the eastern part of the country was due to "only delays in land transport".

The new branch was built in less than a year (11 months) by the Chinese CR20, having cost Sonangol three million dollars.
