Ministry of Health denies rumors of patients escaping from quarantine center

This Friday, the Inspector General of Health, Miguel de Oliveira, denied information from social networks that there would be patients fleeing the quarantine centers in Barra do Kwanza and Calumbo.

:

According to the official, who spoke about the rumours at a press conference, the centres have a surveillance system that does not allow patients to escape from the premises.

"The model created allows public health teams to follow up properly, thus having credible scientific evidence," he said.

Also a source from the Ministry of Health, cited by Angop, assured that the measures are being taken on the basis of concrete data, recommendations from the WHO and the coronavirus expert committee and not on the basis of rumors or information that has been disseminated through social networks.

The same source also said that "the families of citizens quarantined" and those already released should not discriminate against them. "They should receive them without suspicion, because they offer no risk of the coronavirus. They should only comply with the preventive methods presented and informed daily by the media," added the same source.

So far, 92 people - 37 Angolans, 50 Chinese, 12 Americans, two from Canada and one from Cote D'Ivoire - are in quarantine at Calumbo.
