According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, João Lourenço and Évariste Ndayishimiye spoke on the phone during the afternoon of Thursday.
"On the afternoon of this Thursday (November 3), President João Lourenço held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, related to the security situation in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo", reads in the note.
The communiqué also mentions that the "essential purpose" of this contact is the "coordination of actions aimed at restoring peace on the border of Democratic Congo with Rwanda".
In addition to the situation in the DRC, the two heads of state also spoke about "the state of bilateral relations with a view to strengthening them, including the possibility of visits at the highest level".
