ISQ APAVE Group wants to double its turnover in Angola which this year reached 11 million euros

The ISQ APAVE Angola group, a Portuguese company in the oil sector, estimates a turnover of around 11 million euros for 2022 and wants to double its turnover and expand the number of workers in the next five years.

The information was transmitted this Tuesday by its chairman, Pedro Matias, stating that the group wants to expand its operations in Angola, where it has been operating for 20 years, as it believes in the socio-economic development of the African country.

"We are growing in Angola, this year we are going to close with around 10 to 11 million euros in turnover and our ambition is to double this turnover in the space of five years" in the country, said the official this Tuesday to Lusa.

Speaking on the sidelines of the visit that the Portuguese Secretary of State for the Economy, João Neves, made to the company's new premises, in Luanda, Pedro Matias considered that the presence of the Portuguese official signals the importance of his company's actions in Angola.

The presence of the member of the Portuguese Government "demonstrates the commitment that the ISQ group in Portugal with its partner APAVE in France is making for the Angolan market".

"We have been in Angola for 20 years and we want to continue in Angola for the next 20 years, we believe in the economic and social development of Angola and, therefore, we have the ambition to double our operation in Angola within five years", he reiterated.

The reinforcement of ISQ APAVE's operation in Angola also involves doubling the current number of workers, around 110, mostly Angolans, and consequently the turnover.

Technical inspections, non-destructive tests, metallurgical tests and training in the oil, chemical, petrochemical, energy production and agro-industrial sectors are the activities that the group develops in Angola.

The Secretary of State for the Economy of Portugal, João Neves, on a visit to Angola, inaugurated and visited this Tuesday the new facilities of ISQ APAVE, located at Rua Kima Kienda, in Boavista, urban district of Ingombota, in Luanda.

For Pedro Matias, who refused to talk about the investment made in the company's new facilities, the space, consisting of administrative compartments, logistical support, gym and others should "optimize and create more value, effectiveness and efficiency" in its operation.

"And with this, allow our customers a better performance of their operation", he pointed out.

Asked about the obstacles he still faces in Angola, where he has been operating for two decades, the president of ISQ APAVE minimized the administrative obstacles and bureaucratic processes, which he assumed to face, considering that they are part of "normal procedures".

There are "always obstacles, that's like everything else, there are obstacles in Portugal, there are obstacles in any country we operate, often we shouldn't hide this, sometimes there are administrative obstacles, sometimes even some processes are bureaucratic, which we understand".

"Things have their rules, they have to follow their normal procedures, sometimes things take a little longer than what those who are in the operations would like", he pointed out.

The issue of human resources, he added, "is very important, we increasingly want to insert local labor, but for that we also need Angolan workers to move up the value chain."

"That's why we bet a lot on training, we also have a strong investment in our academy to really allow a qualified workforce to then be able to work for cutting-edge industries like this oil and gas industry", concluded the Portuguese investor.
