Candy Factory Angola: inaugurated candy factory in the ZEE after investment of 15 billion kwanzas

Candy Factory Angola, a new confectionery company, started operating in the country this Wednesday, with an investment of more than 15 billion kwanzas. The unit has an installed production capacity of 6700 tons per year and wants to create 350 jobs in the next two years.

The candy factory, including sweets, chewing gum and other sweets, is located in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Vítor Fernandes.

The project, conceived in 2018 and inaugurated this Wednesday, has a partnership with the NELT group, a reference company in the Balkan countries in the field of distribution and logistics, has already created 90 direct jobs and aims to reach 350 direct jobs. and indirect over the next two years.

Frederico Crespo, founding shareholder of Candy Factory Angola, said that the factory is the result of a solid partnership between two national and international family groups and translates into the realization of a dream.

"It is interesting to import, promote and distribute international brands, but in fact the dream of every trader is to one day become an industrialist and develop their own brands, creating added value in the country and for the country", he said.

"Two years ago there was not a single sugar confectionery industry in Angola and even today a large part of consumption is imported from the most varied corners of the planet and not always produced with the rigor required of national industries", highlighted the official.

According to Frederico Crespo, the factory has a large-scale production capacity that "will bring innovative, dynamic brands that, above all, respect the highest national and international quality standards".

"We are equipped with state-of-the-art technology supplied by industry leaders in Germany, France and the Netherlands. Our installed capacity is 6700 tons per year, which corresponds to close to 40 percent of national consumption", he pointed out.

The company's management, which intends to continue investing and increasing its offer in Angola in the coming years, also thanked the Ministry of Finance for its support, via the Credit Guarantee Fund.

The Angolan Institute for the Management of State Assets and Shares (IGAPE), stressed Frederico Crespo, "was another key player in our project, having made it possible to accelerate the implementation of our industry through a process of privatization of the manufacturing units of the ZEE transparent and competitive".

"OKO" is the brand of sweets of various flavors produced by Candy Factory Angola.

After the inauguration of the factory, government officials, shareholders, management members, employees and other guests took a guided tour of its facilities.

Dozens of young people, eager for their first job, were present in front of the company's facilities, waiting for a job opportunity.
