The first donation, which arrived in the country this Tuesday, was the third delivery of vaccines against covid-19 by French support. The first brought to Angola 100,000 doses, the second 495,000 doses and now the third more than a million doses.

This was, however, the first time that the country has received such a significant number of vaccines from AstraZeneca. In this way, France has already supported Angola in the fight against covid-19 with 1,750,800 doses of vaccines.

The Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, stated that the donation reinforces the commitment established by the State to continue the fight against covid-19.

The French ambassador to Angola, Daniel Vosgien, stated that the offer is part of the cooperation agreements established between the two countries, adding that France has planned support for Africa in the order of 120 million doses of vaccines.

As far as US aid is concerned, this was the sixth delivery of vaccines since February. The US has always donated Pfizer's vaccine, totaling 4,416,350 doses.

Franco Mufinda was once again present at the reception of this donation, this Wednesday, thanking the gesture and highlighting the good relations between the two countries. He also took the opportunity to appeal to the population to adhere to vaccination.

The chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy, Gregory Segas, said that this new donation shows President Joe Biden's commitment to Angola and to the world, and is a program to continue.
