Angolan artists exhibit photography in virtual format

It is called “SeventyOitenta” and is a virtual exhibition that brings together more than two dozen works by Angolan photographers born in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century. The aim is to create a contemporary panorama of Angolan photography.

The photographic exhibition is part of the celebrations of the 45 years of Independence of Angola and the 21 years of foundation of Centro Cultural Casa de Angola in Bahia. It is the result of a partnership between this center and the Embassy of Angola in Brazil.

Thus, from the 16th and for the next three months, the works are available to the public through the digital platform www.setentaoitenta.com.

The curatorship of the show belongs to the artist Benjamim Sabe, cultural attaché of the Embassy of Angola in Brazil and director of the Casa de Angola Cultural Center in Bahia.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, the official explained that the purpose of the exhibition is to disseminate Angolan art to Brazilians, in order to strengthen cultural relations between Angola and Brazil. "Our proposal is to make a current cut and show both Angolans and Brazilians what is being done at the moment in Angola with regard to artistic photography", explained the director.

The initial proposal was to have a face-to-face exhibition at the premises of Casa de Angola in Bahia, which operates in the historic center of São Salvador. However, and taking into account the covid-19 pandemic, the show will be exclusively virtual.
