The information was provided by Mário Augusto Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, during a meeting between Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Zhang Bin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China in Angola, which Mário Oliveira was also present at.
Quoted in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, the Minister of Telecommunications explained that "the package of digital solutions includes digital infrastructures, renewable energy and low-income digital telephones".
According to the minister, the aforementioned package of digital solutions aims to stimulate the "informal market and its integration into the formal market", and may facilitate "economic transactions for local populations, especially the most vulnerable".
At the meeting, held this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mário Oliveira also spoke about the growth in the use of social networks and the "substantial challenges, especially with regard to increasing the network of broadband networks and other infrastructures supporting the last mile, reducing the digital gap between urban and rural areas, and promoting digital literacy for all Angolans".
The minister highlighted that, with a view to mitigating the problems, the Executive has been implementing several projects with the objective of reducing "digital information exclusion, through the use and exploitation of the most modern technologies".
"Through innovative and strategic programs, the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication is working tirelessly to ensure digitalization that benefits everyone, regardless of their residential area and socioeconomic conditions", the note reads.
It should be noted that the meeting served to address the various projects that the Chinese company has underway in the country, "which range from the discovery and training of new talents, digital acceleration, as well as the implementation of technological solutions with social impact throughout the national territory of Angola".
