This official trip to Angola by Augusto Santos Silva takes place at the invitation of his counterpart to participate in the 147th Plenary Session of the IPU – Interparliamentary Union, which takes place this year in Luanda.
During the two days in Luanda, the president of the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic also meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teté António, as well as having bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe and Guinea-Bissau.
The former Minister of State and Foreign Affairs' visit program also includes a lecture at the Catholic University and a reception for the Portuguese community on Tuesday.
On the first day of his presence in Luanda - initially in the morning - Augusto Silva will have meetings with João Lourenço at the Presidential Palace and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, giving a talk at the Catholic University after lunch on the theme "Angola, Portugal : two interconnected liberations".
In the late afternoon, at the National Assembly, the inaugural session of the 147th Plenary Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will take place, which will be followed by a dinner hosted by the head of State.
On the second and last day of the visit, Augusto Santos Silva has bilateral meetings with the presidents of the parliaments of Cape Verde, Austelino Correia, and São Tomé and Príncipe, Celmira Sacramento – meetings scheduled for the morning, before the start of the general debate of the 147th Plenary Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Later in the morning, he met with the presidents of the National Assembly of Guinea-Bissau, Domingos Simões Pereira, and of Angola, Carolina Cerqueira.
The last point on the program of the President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic will be a reception for the Portuguese community, at the official residence of the Ambassador of Portugal in Luanda.
