PR has already arrived in Nairobi. More than a dozen cooperation agreements will be signed

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, where he will undertake a two-day state visit. As part of his visit, the two countries will sign 13 agreements in various areas, aiming to strengthen cooperation.

"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is already in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, for the State visit that will take place in response to an invitation made by his counterpart, William Ruto", informs the Presidency of the Republic, in a statement to which the VerAngola had access.

According to the statement, upon his arrival at the airport, the President of the Republic was received by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi.

"The first lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, accompanies the President on this mission", the note also states.

As part of João Lourenço's visit, the two countries will sign 13 agreements in various areas, with a view to strengthening cooperation. According to Angop, the signing of the instruments is scheduled for Saturday, with the verbal process for the initialling of these agreements being signed this Thursday at the meeting of the Bilateral Joint Commission.

The agreements will cover several sectors, such as health, agriculture, environment, mineral resources, oil and gas, tourism, telecommunications, information and communication technologies, transport and maritime cooperation, trade and industry, youth, etc., writes Angop.

On the table there is also the signature of the memoranda of understanding between the Academia Diplomática Venâncio de Moura of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya and between the National School of Administration and Public Policy and the Kenya Government School in domain of Capacity Development in the Public Service.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, the 1st Mixed Bilateral Cooperation Commission between the Republic of Angola and the Republic of Kenya took place this Thursday in Nairobi, where delegations met led by Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya.

"The holding of the inaugural session of the 1st Bilateral Joint Commission between Angola and Kenya marks a new stage in the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation between the Republic of Angola and the Republic of Kenya", the note reads.

For Téte António, the note adds, it is "a historic moment that allows the two countries to intensify the excellent existing relations based on the General Cooperation Agreement in the Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural domains, signed in Luanda" on January 15, 2014.

At the meeting, Angola reiterated its "interest in intensifying cooperation with Kenya, through the exploration of the various potentialities available, with reciprocal advantages, namely in the Political-Diplomatic domains; Strengthening the Capacities of Public Service Staff; Health, as well as well as Agriculture and Forestry", says the statement.

According to the authority, the country, "thanks to its political stability and the consolidation of its macroeconomic indicators", has been devoting "particular attention to the country's socioeconomic growth and development". Thus, the holder of the Foreign Affairs portfolio informed his counterpart that the Executive has been promoting "a set of internal reforms", aiming to establish "a business environment more conducive to boosting economic and commercial cooperation with others countries in the world in general, and in particular with African countries".

Angola and Kenya "are two countries with economic realities and potential, whose complementarity and comparative advantages will serve to leverage productive capacity and wealth creation, with benefits for both States and peoples", the statement also reads.

The meeting also included the participation of the ministers of Commerce and Industry, Telecommunications and Information Technologies and Social Communication and Culture and Tourism, Rui Mingués de Oliveira, Mário da Silva Oliveira and Filipe Silva de Pina Zau, respectively, as well as "directors of the different geopolitical areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs", among others.
