Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, which took place this Monday, the diplomat emphasized that this "moment marks the strengthening of bilateral relations with a strategic African country with economic and political potential in the region."
Quoted in a CIPRA statement that VerAngola had access to, Rui Orlando Xavier stated that relations are "good" and that from now on they will "work towards" intensifying them.
"Relations are good, and now we will work to intensify them even further. We know how important Ghana is in the region it occupies, in central Africa, and the relationship we have with the Republic of Ghana is important for future growth," the new ambassador stated.
On the occasion, Rui Xavier also "highlighted Ghana's historical relevance as an African country with a tradition in gold mining and cocoa production, which could be an opportunity for Angola to diversify cooperation with a focus on sustainable development and the sharing of technological experiences," the statement reads.
In addition to Rui Orlando Xavier, at Monday's ceremony, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, also inaugurated Angola's new ambassador to South Africa, João Baptista Domingos Quiosa.
At the ceremony, the head of state wished the new ambassadors "great success."
