According to the Report on Remittances and Other Personal Transfers in the second quarter of 2022, by the National Bank of Angola (BNA), consulted this Tuesday by Lusa, the trend of growth in remittances that is observed internationally is also evident in the country.

"The balance of remittances and other personal transfers again recorded a deficit, as in previous periods, almost in the same proportion as remittances and other personal transfers sent, given that remittances and other personal transfers received from abroad continue to register very residual values", the report reads.

In the period under analysis, the document indicates, remittances and other personal transfers received, compared to the previous period, grew by 14.0 percent, while those sent grew by 42.2 percent, thus contributing to the widening of the deficit for remittances and other personal transfers.

"Remittances and other personal transfers received from the rest of the world amounted to 3.5 million dollars, against 3.0 million dollars in the previous quarter and 3.3 million dollars in the same period", highlights the analysis.

In the list of countries that lead the flow of remittances and other personal transfers received, in the second quarter of the current year, the United States of America stands out, with a weight of 17.6 percent, followed by Portugal (17.4 percent) and France (12.4 percent).

Regarding remittances and other personal transfers sent outside the country, they amounted to 307.3 million dollars, against 216.2 million dollars in the previous quarter and 141.9 million dollars in the same period last year, "thus representing a clear evidence of increase".

"Portugal remains the main destination country for remittances and other personal transfers leaving Angola, representing 48.8 percent of the total amount in the second quarter, followed by China and Vietnam with 19.9 percent and 18.5 percent percent, respectively", highlights the report.
