Covid-19: Angola tests record 3594 samples and detects 128 more infected

The Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, announced this Monday that 3594 samples were tested, the highest number ever in the country, with a further 128 cases of covid-19.

Of the 128 cases, one is from Bengo, another from Bié, 11 from Huíla and 115 from Luanda, being 52 female and the rest male, aged 10 to 70 years,

Four Angolans of 34, 41, 78 and 82 years of age died from the disease and 14 people were recovered.

Angola has 5530 cases of infection, of which 2591 have recovered, 2740 active, including 16 citrus and 14 severe and 199 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, laboratories have processed 3594 samples, the largest number ever, and 102,254 harvests have been tested.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million and thirty thousand deaths worldwide since December last year, including 2018 in Portugal.

In Africa, there are 36,789 confirmed deaths in more than 1.5 million people infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent pandemic statistics on that continent.

Among the African countries that have Portuguese as their official language, Angola leads in number of deaths and Mozambique in number of cases. Angola registers 199 deaths and 5530 cases, followed by Equatorial Guinea (83 deaths and 5045 cases), Mozambique (66 deaths and 9296 cases), Cape Verde (65 deaths and 6360 cases), Guinea-Bissau (39 deaths and 2385 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (15 deaths and 911 cases).
