Hospital dos Queimados rehabilitated. ICU, operating room and laboratory are the new areas

Dadi Bucusso Netemo, general director of the Specialized General Hospital Neves Bendinha, also known as Hospital dos Queimados, announced that the health unit now has an intensive care unit (ICU), operating room and a laboratory, after being target of requalification that was considered completed last week.


Being fully equipped, the new laboratory will allow the unit to carry out microbiology tests in order to define the level of infection in a safe and concrete way, writes Angop.

According to the person responsible, the new operating room will make it possible to streamline and increase the number of surgeries, reducing the waiting list. According to Angop, the hospital already had an operating room, to which this new one will be added.

In terms of human resources, with a view to strengthening service, the unit will receive 17 doctors in specialties such as internal medicine, physiatrist, plastic surgery and family surgery. According to the person in charge, cited by Angop, this reinforcement will translate into an advantage for the health unit, as the team will be able to reduce waiting times, one of the biggest problems the unit faced.

With capacity for 96 people, the hospital, whose rehabilitation lasted four years, was temporarily operating in the Urban District of Zango, in Viana. Regarding the transfer of patients, Dadi Bucusso Netemo informed that this procedure is already underway, with patients starting to be received from next week, namely on Monday (2 October).

According to Angop, during the requalification of the health unit, its 353 professionals were trained in order to best handle the installed cutting-edge equipment.

It should be noted that, since last year, a new burn hospital has been under construction. To be built in the Centrality of Kilamba, it is estimated that it will be ready by March 2025.
