President of the Republic announces construction of three new hospitals in Luanda

Luanda will have three new hospital units in the coming years, to meet the needs of citizens looking for services in the areas of trauma, ophthalmology and oncology.

The announcement was made this Saturday by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the press, after his visit to the works on the future Hospital dos Queimados, to be built in the centrality of Kilamba, in Luanda.

The future infrastructure - both for the oncology unit and for the trauma unit - will be located in Bairro do Palanca, Kilamba Kiaxi Municipality, in the vicinity of the Cardio-Pulmonary Diseases Hospital Complex Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento, with There is still no defined location for the ophthalmological project.

The commitment to a hospital specialized in emergency care for accidents, fractures and other trauma events is due to the “many road accidents” that have mainly affected young people, explained João Lourenço.

Close to Luanda, in Caxito, the Head of State announced the inauguration, soon, of the new General Hospital that will help direct patients from Bengo who, as a general rule, go to Luanda for treatment.

Despite the financial situation facing the country and the world, João Lourenço said that the works “will not stop” and that he is only fulfilling his promise to reduce costs with the evacuation and treatment of Angolan patients abroad.

“Today, experience is already demonstrating that no one leaves Angola to undergo hemodialysis. Few now go out to have their heart or spine operated on. And all of this, we are doing with young Angolans”, he emphasized.

For João Lourenço, when it comes to health for the country, there will always be money, having also announced more units to be built in other provinces.

For next year, the head of state announced the completion of the Sumbe, Ndalatando and Mbanza Congo hospitals.

In the province of Malanje and in cities such as Catumbela and Dundo, hospital units will also be built.
