President approves 175.4 million dollars in funding for new Burn Hospital

The President, João Lourenço, approved the celebration of a financing agreement worth US$ 175.4 million (149.7 million euros) for the construction project of the new Burned Hospital, in Luanda.

According to the presidential order, to which Lusa had access, the financing agreement between the Republic of Angola, represented by the Finance Ministry, and British financial institution Standard Chartered Bank S.A., has an overall value of 149,720,169.92 euros (US$175,442,095.11), with coverage from the English Export Credit Agency.

The project for construction and equipping of the new Luanda Burned Hospital, as part of the National Development Plan for Angola 2018-2022, says the document published in the Dário da República, "is one of the means to improve the National Health System.

The funding amount "includes payment of the Export Credit Insurance premium," reads presidential order No. 121/21 of August 19.

The Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, is delegated powers to sign the financing agreement and all related documentation, including any addenda, in the name and representation of the Republic of Angola.

The Burned Hospital is located in the Popular neighborhood, municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, in Luanda, and since 2019 its services have been transferred to a health unit in the urban district of Zango, in Viana, while the construction of the new structure is underway.
