Covid-19: Angola with 11 more deaths and 420 cases in the last 24 hours

Angola has recorded 420 more cases of covid-19, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 51,827, and 11 more deaths associated with the disease, as well as 411 recoveries, in the past 24 hours, health officials said.

Of the new cases, 222 are male and 198 female, aged between 1 month and 93 years, 327 are from the province of Luanda, 16 are from Huambo, 15 from Benguela, 13 from Uíge, 11 from Bié, nine from Namíbe and six from Huíla.

Of the 11 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, five were male and six female, between 7 and 79 years.

Angola counts since the beginning of the pandemic 51,827 confirmed cases of covid-19, which resulted in 1371 deaths and 45,918 recovered from the disease. The country reports 4538 active cases, of which 34 are in critical condition and 43 in serious condition.

Also in the last 24 hours, 3260 samples were processed by RT-PCR and the cumulative points to 955,688 tests.

The African continent recorded 161 more covid-19-associated deaths and 14,519 new cases of infection with the disease in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Africa CDC.

The total number of cases in Africa has risen to 8,096,504, while the number of deaths now stands at 204,821 and the number of people recovered from the disease has risen to 7,409,626, 23,741 more than the previous day.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,656,833 deaths worldwide, among more than 226.31 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the pandemic began, according to the most recent tally by Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Brazil or Peru.
