The measure was announced this Monday by the Minister of State and head of the President's Security House, Francisco Furtado, and comes after, on August 31, the Executive had announced that a car will be awarded, randomly drawn, among all citizens who are vaccinated until December 31.
According to Francisco Furtado, the Executive also approved, on September 2nd, the realization of a monthly raffle for an electric appliance, in each of the provinces, from now on covering all the citizens who have been vaccinated.
Angola has about 2 million people vaccinated, approximately 2.9 percent of the population, and earlier this month adopted new measures aimed at the gradual resumption of economic activity, with emphasis on the end of the sanitary fence in Luanda and the mandatory quarantine for travelers, which had been maintained since March last year.
Both Francisco Furtado and the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, also present at the press conference in Luanda, emphasized the need for citizens to be vaccinated to protect themselves from covid-19 and avoid a third wave of the disease in the African country, while ensuring the recovery of the economy.
Sílvia Lutucuta lamented that the adhesion of the population to the vaccination is below the goals, stating that the posts have the capacity to vaccinate 3000 people/day and, in some cases, receive less than 1000.
Silvia Lutucuta pointed out that it would be necessary to vaccinate 100,000 people/day to reach the goals and save lives, but the daily average is only 30,000 people.
"We have more than 400,000 people who did the first dose and have not yet shown up to do the second," she lamented, stressing that the goal is to ensure that, by the end of the year, 60 percent of the target population (citizens over 18 years old) is vaccinated.
