According to a brief note from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access to, the visit to the Casa da Música e do Teatro (Music and Theater House) took place this Tuesday morning.
The project for the future Palácio da Música, Teatro, and Casa do Artista, "which is being built in the space where parliament once stood for decades," is approximately 27 percent complete, according to Angop.
During his visit to the former National Assembly, João Lourenço visited the various construction areas.
This project, which aims to revitalize the building that was once a movie theater and housed parliament in the post-independence period, includes not only performance venues but also a residential area for servants.
"The arts complex, in addition to including venues for music concerts and theatrical performances, among other artistic expressions, also includes a residential area for creatives, with 80 housing units under construction," the Presidency stated.
The Mitrelli group is responsible for rehabilitating this infrastructure, with an investment of 85 million dollars, with an additional 3.4 million dollars earmarked for inspections, which are the responsibility of the DAR.
The Palácio da Música e do Teatro, the Casa do Artista, and the parking area are the three main elements covered by this project. According to Angop, the contract period is 30 months, with completion estimated for April 2027.
In addition to the future Casa da Música, the President of the Republic also visited the future Convention Center.
During this visit, the objective was to review the progress of the projects, the head of state visited the Chicala area to see the construction of the future center up close.
"The Convention Center is being built in the Chicala area, with the aim of providing the country with a space designed from the ground up to host large-scale events such as international conferences, business meetings, summits, congresses, colloquia, and others," said the Presidency of the Republic in another statement that VerAngola had access to.
During the visit, which lasted over an hour, João Lourenço received information from Carlos Alberto dos Santos, Minister of Public Works, Urbanism, and Housing, and representatives of the company responsible for the project, Dar Angola Consultoria, Limitada.
This infrastructure, with a budget of 100 million dollars, will have a conference room for over 370 people, multifunctional meeting rooms, restaurant spaces, and parking for 700 cars, among other amenities.
According to Angop, the future center is under construction in an area of 72,000 square meters, within the perimeter of the LUNDU Project (which will have, for example, museums, restaurants, offices, etc.), and it is expected that the project, once completed, will create approximately 7000 direct jobs.
