State wants to sell stakes in Caixa Angola, BAI and Mota-Engil by the 1st half of 2022

The state plans to conclude the sale of its stakes in Caixa Angola, BAI and Mota-Engil Angola by the end of the first half of 2022, the secretary of state for Finance and the Treasury said Wednesday.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the National Interministerial Commission responsible for implementing the Privatisation Programme (CNI-PROPRIV), Ottoniel dos Santos said that recommendations had been approved "to ensure that these assets can be sold by the end of the first half of 2022.

The meeting was led by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and the various processes included in the Privatization Program (Propriv) were evaluated.

The privatization process for the State's stake in Banco Caixa Geral de Angola (25 percent) is due to start this year, while BAI's 10 percent will be sold on the stock exchange, via a Public Offer of Sale. The State also has a 20 percent stake in Mota-Engil Angola, via Sonangol.

Dos Santos also said that the process of selling the 16 industrial units put up for tender would be closed this year, without detailing how many proposals had already been received.

The 16 industrial units to be privatized in this phase are AngolaCabos (Optical Fiber Cable Industry), Angtor (Faucet Industry), Infer (Handles, Hinges, Locks and Cylinders Industry), Indugalv (Chrome plating, Nickel plating and Zinc plating), Bombagua (Water pumps for irrigation), Induplastic (Sanitary/Domestic Plastic Products Industry).

Indumassas (Pasta Industry), Ninhoflex (Foam Mattresses, Springs and Pillows Industry), Indupame (Metal Structure Industrial Buildings Industry), BTMT (Electrical Boards Industry), Betonar (Prefabricated, Pre-Pressed and Concrete Artifacts Industry), Inducabos (Low and Medium Voltage Electrical Cables Industry) will also be privatized.

Also on the list of industrial units of the SEZ to be privatized are the companies MateEletrica (Industry of Switches, Sockets, Derivation Boxes and Switchgear), Indulouças (Conventional Toilet Industry), Indutubos (Pipe and Fittings Industry) and Fundinar (Metal Alloys Foundry).

From the total of 138 assets registered in Popriv, 41 have been sold so far, including six reference companies, and another 27 processes are in the conclusion phase, according to data from the State Management of Assets and Participations Institute (IGAPE).
