Angola registers 30 new cases and one death of a chinese citizen by covid-19

Angola registered 30 new covid-19 infections and one death, from a Chinese citizen, who had been hospitalized for six days in a critical condition, the health minister said Monday.

Silvia Lutucuta said that of the total number of cases, all registered in the province of Luanda, 16 are male and 14 female, aged between 8 and 79 years.

With the numbers of the last 24 hours, the country now totals 2654 positive cases, 108 deaths, 1475 active cases and 1071 recovered patients.

The ruler stressed that one patient is in critical condition, 23 are severe, 36 moderate, 48 mild and 1246 asymptomatic cases, having been recovered in the last 24 hours eight people.

Regarding the laboratory situation, 474 samples were processed in the last 24 hours by RT-PCR, making a cumulative of 57,035 samples processed, of which 2654 were positive.

The Health folder holder highlighted the beginning of testing to taxi drivers, in a first phase 5000 people, and this Monday 1359 citizens were tested, of which 44 with reactive results.

"Despite everything, we have an exposure rate of 3.2 percent in the already tested population of taxi drivers," said the minister, calling on taxi drivers to join this process due to the high level of exposure.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused at least 874,071 deaths and infected more than 25.2 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent is now the one with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
