João Lourenço, in a dispatch dated 25 August and to which Lusa had access this Wednesday, recalls that the land where the airport is being built is a State reserve, including the respective protection and expansion zone and the Airport City of Icolo and Bengo, defined by a polygon with an extension of 13.4 thousand hectares.
The commission, which will be coordinated by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination and made up of several ministerial departments, should prepare studies on the design, construction, equipment, operation and implementation project of the Icolo and Bengo Airport City.
This body must also prepare the general and partial plans, including the previous socioeconomic studies, necessary for the proper implementation of the project, present models of administrative management, urbanistic and real estate management, promote the organization of an international "road show" for the presentation and raising of financing to the implementation of the project.
This committee's attributions also include defining the premises necessary for the economic and financial sustainability of the project, providing the conditions for the construction of adequate infrastructures to the evolution of world demand and the determining trends in attracting trade.
