The minister, who was speaking during the "Aeronautical Industry Forum - The aeronautical sector in the global and local context," explained that this project aims to transform the capital and the future airport into a logistics platform of reference in the mobility of people and cargo.
Cited by Jornal de Angola, Ricardo d'Abreu said that the initiative is part of the 2018-2022 National Development Plan for the transport sector and that, for now, the master plan is being executed, to later move on to the identification of partners and the ways of implementing the airport city.
The holder of the Transport portfolio did not reveal how much the project will cost or the names of possible partners, but admitted that the sector aims to ensure the country the maximum competitive advantages in the market.
"We encourage this meeting, to reflect on current issues, which will allow us to infer about the aeronautical future of our country, bringing to the same table, even if in a virtual way, several experts who will look at the aspects of social growth and economic development, and the efforts to increase the resilience of current routes to better sustain, in the future, all aviation on our African continent," he said, adding that the Plan for Management and Control of Airspace, budgeted at 36 million dollars, is already at an advanced stage.
In his speech, Ricardo d'Abreu also highlighted that the country is well positioned geographically and can take advantage of it. The government intends to define and develop strategies to create an efficient and sustainable transport system, he added.
