Covid-19: Angola registered 111 new cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola has registered 111 new cases of covid-19, six deaths and 265 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, indicates the epidemiological bulletin of the National Health Directorate.

The positive cases were reported in the provinces of Luanda (28), Kwanza Sul (21), Lunda Sul (14), Huila (12), Moxico (11), Cunene (11), Huambo (nine), Benguela, Lunda Norte (two each) and Namibe (one), between 2 and 87 years, being 76 males and 53 females.

The reported deaths, four males and two females, between 34 and 70 years old, occurred in Luanda (three), Huila (two) and Namibe (one).

A total of 265 people, aged between 9 months and 86 years, recovered from the disease, of which 95 in Luanda, 58 in Lunda Norte, 52 in Cunene, 21 in Moxico, 15 in Huambo, five in Huila, the same number in Lunda Sul and Namibe, four in Kwanza Sul, three in Benguela and two in Cabinda.

With the data of the last 24 hours, the country records a total of 43.269 positive cases, 1032 deaths, 39.847 considered recovered and 2390 active, of which ten are in critical condition, 15 severe, 65 moderate, 32 mild and 2268 asymptomatic.

There are 142 patients in hospitalization, 156 people in institutional quarantine and 750 contacts under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed 3572 samples by RT-PCR, in the period under review, pointing to a cumulative of 824,718 processed samples, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points of Luanda, 403 people were tested in the same period on the basis of the antigen test.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 4,247,424 deaths worldwide, among more than 200,1 million cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to AFP's assessment based on official data.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in countries such as the UK, India, South Africa, Brazil and Peru.
